I get “we couldn't match those details”
Both the passport number and the phone number have to match the application. The passport number must be exact, including any letters — if you renewed your passport after applying, the file is still under the old number. Check with us before trying repeatedly.
Which phone number should I use?
The number you gave when you applied. Any format works — with or without the country code, spaces or dashes. If you have since changed it, contact customer service and we will update the file and check the status for you.
My status says a payment is outstanding
An application stays where it is until the payment clears, so nothing will move until it does. Contact customer service to settle it or to ask what is outstanding.
I am an employer checking on my staff
Switch to “I'm a business client” and sign in to your account. The portal lists every application you have submitted, rather than one passport at a time, so there is nothing to look up here.
My application has been at the same status for a while
Anything waiting on a government decision — a work permit, an appointment, the visa itself — moves on the authorities' timetable rather than ours. If it has not changed in more than a week, contact customer service and we will chase it.
Why don't I see all the statuses on my application?
Because they are not a checklist. Each application only takes the statuses its route calls for, so a file may go from documents submitted straight to waiting for the visa without ever touching a work permit or an appeal.
